Only Germany´s best employers receive "TopJob" recognition. Neenah Gessner GmbH is among them for the third time.

In May 2010, the University of St. Gallen carried out a survey of Neenah Gessner´s 496 employees and investigated the personnel management of the company. The result: on 27th January 2011 in Duisburg the company received the "TopJob" awared from Mentor Wolfgang Clement, so placing it among Germany´s best companies to work for. 

Tradition and cohesion – these are, and have been, central tenets for Neenah Gessner, papermakers from 1845 up to the mill’s acquisition by the American NEENAH Paper, Inc. in 2006. Even the scientific investigation showed the company to have the spirit of an authentic family business. „A ‚this doesn’t have anything to do with me‘ attitude simply doesn’t exist“, said Mathias Haefner. Each employee takes full responsibility from the start, masters additional tasks, and has their mind fully engaged, „a company culture which isn’t universally understood“, says the Personnel Manager. To further consolidate employee‘ identification with the company, they are kept well informed. The company is quite proud of its employee newsletter, „Papierrazzi“. Three times a year, the editorial team which comes entirely from among the staff, gives all employees an insight into the company’s news and developments. But coherence isn’t only fostered on a factual level. With joint ski trips, half-marathons and no-smoking seminars the fitness and well-being of all staff are promoted. So no one is left out and everyone trusts in the motto: „Together, a solution can always be found“.

Prof. Dr. Heike Bruch and her team from the Institute of Leadership and Personnel Management of the University of St. Gallen studied the work of 169 human resource departments in German medium-sized companies in all industry sectors. They investigated all important Personnel functions and carried out an employee survey in which more than 80% of the staff took part. The 72 best companies, NEENAH Gessner included, gained the „TopJob“ certification award, valid for one year.
