Second meltblown line up and running
|
In absolute record time – in only 10 months from plan to build – Neenah Gessner’s new meltblown micro-fibre line started production in February of this year. The line, which cost €7 million, gives Neenah Gessner ample capacity to meet steadily increasing demand for this high-performance filter material. „The super-fast build time“, according to Holger Baumgartner, Plant Manager at Neenah Gessner, „was a function of the many years‘ of experience of our team of development, technical and production specialists, all of them highly conversant with meltblown fibre technology.“ The limits of our capacity had been reached with our first line, commissioned in 1993, and that made rapid planning and implementation of the new line necessary. „The whole project“, says Baumgartner, „was executed with our own know-how, from production engineering to development“. Nonwoven microfibre technology, also known as meltblown technology, provides an answer to the ever-increasing demands of filtration technology. By combining filter paper with synthetic fibre nonwoven, these demands can be met, both in the automotive industry and other sectors, including semi-conductors, food processing and pharmaceuticals. Manufacturing these nonwovens is the perfect complement to our paper-making capability; a unique combination that makes Neenah Gessner one of the world’s market leaders. This new production line means Neenah Gessner can meet the needs of this continuously growing market while following the latest market trends. The new line provides 15 new jobs in a state-of-the-art working environment.
